The United States remains committed to peace and stability in the Western Balkans, with reconciliation between Kosovo and Serbia continuing to be a key priority, the US representative to the United Nations said on Tuesday.

She stated that US President Donald Trump values both countries and wants to see peace, stability and prosperity across the region.

The American representative called on Kosovo and Serbia to exercise restraint, take concrete steps to build trust and preserve stability, and engage constructively in the dialogue facilitated by the European Union.

“Long-term progress will come from Prishtina and Belgrade, not from the Security Council,” she said.

She also stressed that the United States’ position on the number of UN Security Council sessions dedicated to Kosovo remains unchanged.
