OSCE Chairperson and Finnish Foreign Minister, Elina Valtonen, stated in Pristina that she hopes for a resolution regarding the blockade of Kosovo’s Assembly and government.
She made the statement during a press conference following her meeting with President Vjosa Osmani.
“We marked a very important achievement: 25 years of engagement. In this regard, I welcome the election of the new Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly and hope that the Assembly’s processes will operate in accordance with the Constitution. I had the opportunity to engage with President Vjosa Osmani and civil society representatives. I had productive discussions with President Osmani. Strengthening relations among communities remains essential. We discussed the potential of EU-mediated dialogue with the appointment of the new Pristina–Belgrade representative. The OSCE remains ready to support these efforts.
During my meeting with civil society, I received various feedback on how the OSCE can strengthen good governance. I met with members of the academy for young women. These women are part of the network graduated since that year in promoting dialogue and peace. Through the OSCE network, which operates in the field, we hope to put into practice and improve people’s lives. The responses I received from the parties, together with tangible progress in the process, truly feed my optimism that we can continue to advance our efforts that we all aim for,” Valtonen said.
