Vasfije Krasniqi-Goodman, a survivor of wartime sexual violence in Kosovo, became emotional as she spoke to the media, recalling the trauma she endured at just 16 years old.
She said that this day is always difficult for her, but emphasized how much has changed over the past 27 years.
“When I was 16, I was in the hands of the enemy, but today I stand here to speak about justice, and I have all the Albanian people behind me. I thank the institutions as well.”
Krasniqi-Goodman called on other survivors to find the strength to speak out publicly and seek justice.
“This is something that cannot be forgiven to Serbia,” she added.
She made the remarks while paying tribute at the Heroinat Memorial, alongside Acting President Albulena Haxhiu and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on the Day of Survivors of Wartime Sexual Violence.
