Acting President of Kosovo and Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and members of the government cabinet, paid tribute at the Heroinat Memorial, honoring survivors of wartime sexual violence.

Today marks the Memorial Day of Survivors of Sexual Violence during the last war in Kosovo—a day dedicated to remembering the suffering and trauma endured by victims.

The commemoration aims to acknowledge the injustice faced by survivors and to raise awareness about delayed justice, while also fighting the stigma that continues to affect them.

As part of the day’s activities, the Assembly of Kosovo will hold a solemn session at 17:00 under the theme “Ma kthe dritën” (“Give Me Back the Light”).

April 14 has been officially designated as the Day of Survivors of Wartime Sexual Violence in Kosovo, contributing to the preservation of collective memory and emphasizing the importance of solidarity with survivors.
