Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that his country would lose the war if the expected $60 billion in American aid remains blocked in Congress, as Russia has intensified attacks in eastern Ukraine.
“If Congress does not help Ukraine, Ukraine will lose the war,” Zelensky said during a conference with ambassadors on the United24 platform for raising funds for the Ukrainian government. “Without the support of Congress, it will be difficult for us to win, even to survive” as a country, he added.
“If Ukraine loses the war, other countries will be attacked,” warned the Ukrainian president, assessing that Russia, which invaded the neighboring country in February 2022, would then exercise nuclear threat to intimidate Western societies.
The American program of military and economic aid worth $60 billion for Kyiv has been blocked in Congress since last year due to divisions between Democrats and Republicans, while presidential elections are to be held in November.
