PDK leader Bedri Hamza stated that the election of Kosovo’s President is not a matter for a single political party.

He confirmed that he positively responded to Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s invitation to discuss political developments and the process of electing the new President.

Hamza emphasized that as an opposition party, PDK has not been and will not be an obstacle to state processes.

“The election of the President is not only a matter for one party, but for all of us as representatives of the people. For this reason, today I accepted Mr. Kurti’s invitation to discuss political developments and the process of electing the new President. As an opposition political party, we have not been and are not an obstacle to state processes, but we also do not support candidates who do not represent civic unity in accordance with the constitutional spirit,” Hamza wrote on Facebook.

He added:

“I hope that those with constitutional responsibility to propose candidates will reflect and aim for broad support, avoiding short-term party calculations. Institutional stability is vital and must be treated as such. For us, state interest is above any political calculation, and we defend this standard firmly.”
