Since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, around 24,000 American citizens have returned safely to the United States, according to a U.S. State Department official.

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs, Dylan Johnson, stated that several flights have already transported hundreds of Americans safely back to the United States, while additional flights are scheduled in the coming days depending on security conditions.

“Several flights have safely returned hundreds of Americans to the United States, while other flights are planned in the coming days, depending on security conditions,” Johnson said.

He added that the figure of 24,000 does not include Americans who have safely relocated to other countries or those who are currently in transit.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said that thousands of Americans are being moved “quietly, but smoothly” out of the Middle East.
