U.S. senators are set to publicly question key national security advisers of President Donald Trump regarding the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to Reuters.
The hearing, to be held by the Senate Intelligence Committee, will primarily focus on the conflict in the Middle East, which has claimed thousands of lives, disrupted millions more, and shaken global energy and stock markets.
Democrats have criticized the administration for failing to adequately brief Congress and are calling for public, non-classified testimony.
Those expected to testify include Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
Meanwhile, Joe Kent, former head of the National Counterterrorism Center, has resigned, stating he could not support the war. He argued that Iran did not pose an immediate threat and claimed the conflict was initiated under pressure from Israel.
The White House rejected these allegations, describing them as “false.”
