The opposition in Albania has launched its seventh protest in front of the government building in Tirana, marking a continuation of ongoing demonstrations against the ruling authorities.
Sali Berisha, head of the Democratic Party, arrived at the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard alongside party allies, members of parliament, and supporters. The group marched from the party headquarters to join protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister’s office.
Unlike some previous rallies, speeches have returned to the protest format. Alongside Berisha, other speakers expected to address the crowd include Besart Xhaferri, Eda Grimci, Edvin Cami, and Senada Mehmeti.
Authorities have implemented extensive security measures for the demonstration. The Tirana Police have deployed approximately 1,500 officers to ensure safety during the protest, which is expected to last around three hours.
Skënder Hita, Director General of the State Police, is also reported to be present on the ground overseeing operations.
