April 24, 2026 – Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has raised serious concerns about the reliability of the United States as a NATO ally in the event of a Russian attack.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Tusk said the key question for Europe today is whether the U.S. would remain a trustworthy and committed partner in defending the alliance.

He warned that a Russian attack on NATO members is not a distant scenario, but a possible risk in the coming months, describing the situation as “very serious.” He stressed that member states must treat NATO obligations with the same level of seriousness as Poland does.

According to Tusk, Europe must strengthen its own defense capabilities, especially along its eastern borders, and move toward a more integrated and stronger common defense system, Reuters reported.
