The Central Election Commission (CEC) may decide to recount votes from up to 10% of polling stations selected randomly in the upcoming elections, after receiving the electoral materials.

This was announced by CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, who emphasized that the measure is part of improvements to the regulatory framework aimed at addressing issues identified during the vote-counting process for parliamentary candidates in Municipal Counting Centers.

“To address the problems identified in the Municipal Counting Centers during the counting of votes for parliamentary candidates, the Central Election Commission has undertaken concrete measures through the improvement of the regulatory framework. The bylaws provide an additional control mechanism for the ballot counting process. Specifically, after receiving electoral materials from regular polling stations at the Results and Counting Center, the CEC assesses the situation and, if necessary, may decide to recount votes from up to 10% of polling stations selected randomly,” Elezi stated.
