Kosova Finance Forum 2026 Kicks Off Today

Following the formal opening ceremony held last night, the Kosova Finance Forum 2026 (KFF 2026) has officially begun its working sessions today, turning Prishtina into a key regional hub for financial and economic dialogue.

The forum, which is increasingly establishing itself as a major regional platform, brings together policymakers, leaders of financial institutions, investors, and international experts with the aim of strengthening cooperation and trust in the Western Balkans markets.

This year’s edition is held under the theme “Building Trust in Western Balkan Markets”, highlighting the need for greater transparency, stability, and financial integration in the region. After networking events and an official reception on April 27, today’s agenda focuses on main sessions and high-level thematic discussions.

Among the key participants are prominent political and economic figures, including:

  • Hekuran Murati, Minister of Finance of Kosovo
  • Mimoza Kusari, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship
  • Besar Durmishi, Minister of Economy and Labour of North Macedonia
  • Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo

International participation also includes well-known figures such as:

  • Yanis Varoufakis, former Minister of Finance of Greece
  • Sebastian Sosa, IMF representative for the region
  • Marcelo Castellanos, IFC Director for Southeast Europe
  • Sergiy Maslichenko, EBRD Director for Kosovo
  • Stephen O’Malley, UN Development Coordinator

European financial institutions and diplomatic representatives are also in focus, including Jonas Westerlund, Ambassador of Sweden to Kosovo, as well as development banking experts such as Moritz Remé (KfW) and Kristina Kanapinskaite (EIB).

Today’s discussions will focus on key issues for regional economic development, including:

  • alignment with European Union standards
  • investment growth and capital mobilization
  • public-private partnerships in infrastructure
  • digital transformation and fintech
  • regional banking cooperation
  • the impact of demographics and productivity on economic growth

Alongside the main sessions, roundtables and specialized discussions are also being held on fintech, microfinance, and the future of digital banking.

Organized by the Kosova Business Forum, KFF 2026 aims to be more than just a conference, serving as a practical platform for partnership building and investment promotion in the region.

With its extensive agenda and strong international participation, the forum is expected to further strengthen Prishtina’s position as an emerging hub for economic and financial dialogue in the Western Balkans.
