The death toll from the massive overnight Russian strikes on Kyiv has risen to 21, according to Ukrainian emergency services.

Authorities stated that rescue teams are continuing intensive search-and-rescue operations in the affected areas following one of the largest drone assaults on the Ukrainian capital since the start of the war.

Emergency crews are still working through the rubble of a collapsed building in the Darnytskyi District district, where officials fear more people may remain trapped beneath the debris.

Earlier reports had confirmed 16 deaths, but the number increased after additional bodies were recovered from the ruins.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia launched around 800 drones toward Kyiv following the end of a three-day ceasefire period.

The attacks come amid continued escalation in the war between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides reporting intensified military operations in recent days.
