The film “Dua”, directed by Blerta Basholli, has won the “SACD” award at the Cannes Film Festival, marking a significant international recognition for Kosovo cinema.

The award was presented within the parallel section of the festival, “Semaine de la Critique”, where the film also had its world premiere.

The SACD prize is awarded by the Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers (SACD), a French organization that protects and promotes authors of films and dramatic works. It is typically given to works with outstanding screenwriting or a distinctive and original artistic voice.

“Dua” portrays a deeply personal reality experienced by many teenagers who lived through the turbulent 1990s in Kosovo, offering a sensitive reflection on that period of history.

The film’s success in Cannes marks a strong international debut and adds to the growing visibility of Kosovo’s film industry on the global stage.
