Postal voting for Kosovo citizens living abroad officially begins today, on May 21, for all voters who previously registered for this voting method.
According to available data, around 105,000 diaspora voters are expected to participate, the majority of whom reside in various European countries.
One day before the start of the process, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced from the Vote Counting and Results Centre that the final batches of ballot packages have been prepared and are ready for dispatch.
He stated that approximately 75,000 individual voting packages have already been prepared and will begin distribution from May 21, while around 30,000 additional packages will first be transported to the airport and then sent to respective countries on Thursday.
Each voting package includes all necessary materials for voting, including instructions, a ballot paper, a secrecy envelope, and a return envelope.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) also confirmed that each shipment has been assigned a unique tracking number, allowing voters to monitor the status of their package at any time.
The postal voting period will run until June 6, and voters are urged not to wait until the last moment to send back their ballots, in order to ensure they arrive in time for counting in Kosovo.
For this process, the CEC has activated postal boxes in 22 countries, including Germany, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Austria, Turkey, and others. A permanent CEC postal box in Kosovo also remains operational.
