Albania’s chief diplomat, Ferit Hoxha, held a meeting in Prague with the European Union’s Special Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen.
Hoxha announced that during the meeting he praised Sorensen’s continued engagement and the European Union’s support for Kosovo, particularly in the areas of democratic consolidation, strengthening institutions, rule of law reforms, and economic development.
“Kosovo remains firmly anchored on its European path, clearly oriented toward EU integration and fully aligned with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. Albania believes that this continued commitment deserves proper recognition and should be met with the granting of EU candidate country status for Kosovo — an important and encouraging political signal for its citizens and for the broader European future of the region,” Hoxha wrote on X.
Among other points, Hoxha emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to the path of European integration and fully harmonized with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy.
According to Hoxha, Kosovo’s continued commitment deserves proper recognition, including the granting of EU candidate status, reports Dukagjini.
“Albania believes that this continued commitment deserves proper recognition and should be fulfilled by granting Kosovo EU candidate country status, an important and encouraging political signal for its citizens and for the European future of the region,” he wrote.
Hoxha also reiterated that the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia remains the only way to achieve full normalization of relations between the two countries.
According to him, the dialogue process represents an important step toward peace, stability, and long-term cooperation in the region.
“I also reiterated that the Dialogue remains the only sustainable path toward the full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, representing an essential contribution to a new chapter in relations between the two neighboring countries and to peace, stability, and sustainable cooperation throughout the wider region,” Hoxha wrote on X.
