President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, after his visit to Kosovo, also paid a visit to Serbia.
During a press conference there, Costa stated that European enlargement is built on trust and stressed the need for regional cooperation and good neighbourly relations, reports Gazeta Express.
He further said that the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement within the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue is essential.
“The way forward is challenging, but the direction is clear. We must focus on three main priorities. First, fostering good neighbourly relations and regional cooperation. These are vital both for security and for economic prosperity. The Belgrade–Pristina dialogue and the full implementation of the Ohrid Agreement are essential in this regard,” he said.
Addressing Serbia, Costa also called for alignment with the European Union’s policies and values.
“Second, alignment with the policies and values of the European Union, especially with our common foreign and security policy. These are not just principles we uphold; they are the very foundation of the European project and of our partnership with Serbia. Third, the implementation of ongoing reforms is essential to move forward on your path to membership. We encourage you to continue accelerating reforms in three important areas you mentioned: the rule of law, including full implementation of the requirements and requested information,” he added.
