The United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, began Sunday with a visit to the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Pristina, where he met with CEC Chairperson Kreshnik Radoniqi.
In a statement issued following the visit, the ambassador praised the CEC’s work during previous electoral cycles and commended the efforts of the institutions involved in organizing today’s elections.
According to Hargreaves, many individuals are working behind the scenes to ensure that the electoral process is conducted smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with democratic standards. He emphasized that it is now up to the citizens of Kosovo to participate in the vote.
“I thanked him and his team for the excellent work they did during the previous election cycle. I met with the IT team, the duty prosecutor, and the Kosovo Police coordinator. I thanked them for the efforts of their teams in ensuring that today’s elections run smoothly. There are so many people working tirelessly behind the scenes today to guarantee a calm and efficient democratic process. Now it is up to the people of Kosovo to go out and vote,” Hargreaves wrote.
The ambassador’s visit comes as citizens across Kosovo head to the polls in the country’s early parliamentary elections, with institutions continuing to monitor and support the electoral process throughout the day.
