On the eighth anniversary of the passing of Hilmi Haradinaj, former Kosovo Liberation Army commander and Mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, paid tribute to his memory, describing him as a fellow fighter and a great patriot of the Albanian nation.
In a social media post, Lushtaku expressed deep respect for Hilmi Haradinaj’s life and contribution during some of the most difficult periods in Kosovo’s history.
“Today, on the 8th anniversary of his passing, we remember with deep respect our fellow fighter and great patriot of the nation, Bacë Hilmi Haradinaj.”
Lushtaku stated that Hilmi Haradinaj made an invaluable contribution to Kosovo’s struggle for freedom, remaining steadfast in the face of adversity and becoming a symbol of sacrifice, resilience, and devotion to the homeland.
“Bacë Hilmi gave everything to Kosovo in its most difficult days, standing unbroken against the challenges of the time and becoming an example of sacrifice and love for the homeland.”
He also highlighted the sacrifices of the Haradinaj family, honoring the contribution of Hilmi Haradinaj’s sons and family members who played a significant role in Kosovo’s path toward freedom and independence.
“On this day of remembrance, we honor the sacrifice of his sons and the entire Haradinaj family, who contributed without reservation to the road toward Kosovo’s freedom and independence.”
Lushtaku concluded his tribute by paying respect to Hilmi Haradinaj’s legacy and lifelong dedication to the national cause.

Hilmi Haradinaj is remembered by many Kosovars as a respected patriarch of the Haradinaj family, whose members made significant sacrifices during Kosovo’s struggle for liberation and statehood.
