U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has emphasized that negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are the only realistic path toward rebuilding Lebanon, restoring economic stability, and ending the recurring cycles of violence in the region.
Rubio made the remarks during a phone conversation with the President of Lebanon, according to information confirmed by U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
During the call, the top U.S. diplomat also reiterated Washington’s position on the need for the disarmament of Hezbollah, stressing continued American support for a fully sovereign Lebanon living in peace with its neighbors.
The statement comes amid ongoing regional tensions and international efforts to preserve the recently announced ceasefire arrangements and prevent further escalation along the Israel–Lebanon border.
Rubio’s comments reflect the longstanding U.S. view that lasting stability in Lebanon requires stronger state institutions, reduced influence of armed non-state groups, and a diplomatic framework capable of addressing security concerns on both sides of the border.
