Kosovo international Vedat Muriqi has added another remarkable achievement to his career, becoming the fourth most expensive transfer in football history for a striker aged over 32.
Muriqi’s move from RCD Mallorca to Fenerbahce SK for €15.5 million places him among an elite group of veteran forwards who have commanded significant transfer fees late in their careers.
According to figures published by Transfermarkt, only three transfers rank higher in this category:
- Cristiano Ronaldo – from Real Madrid CF to Juventus FC for €117 million
- Robert Lewandowski – from FC Bayern Munich to FC Barcelona for €45 million
- Cristiano Ronaldo – from Juventus to Manchester United FC for €17 million
- Vedat Muriqi – from Mallorca to Fenerbahçe for €15.5 million
The transfer highlights the strong reputation that Muriqi—nicknamed “The Pirate”—continues to enjoy in European football despite being over 32 years old. During his time at Mallorca, he established himself as one of the club’s key players, becoming a leader through his goals, physical presence, and consistent performances in La Liga.
The move also marks a return to Fenerbahçe, where Muriqi previously enjoyed a successful spell before earning a transfer to SS Lazio. His return has been welcomed enthusiastically by Fenerbahçe supporters, who hope he can reproduce the form that made him one of the most respected strikers in Spain.
For Kosovo football, Muriqi’s achievement is another source of pride. As one of the leading figures of the Kosovo national football team, he has now secured a place in transfer-market history among the most valuable veteran strikers ever transferred.
