NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska has reaffirmed that the Alliance’s commitment to security and stability in Kosovo remains unwavering.

In an interview with RTK, Shekerinska stated that NATO highly values its cooperation with Kosovo’s security institutions and noted that this partnership has contributed to the development of local capacities, knowledge, and expertise.

She emphasized that the Western Balkans remain strategically important to NATO and that Allies continue to focus on preserving stability throughout the region.

Speaking about the KFOR mission, Shekerinska recalled that NATO increased its presence in Kosovo following the incidents of 2023. According to her, improvements in the security situation have made it possible to optimize troop deployment without altering the Alliance’s commitment to the mission.

“Our commitment to KFOR remains unwavering,” she stated.

Shekerinska underlined that NATO will continue to support Kosovo, while also stressing that Allies expect tangible results from the EU-facilitated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade.

According to her, lasting peace, security, and prosperity in the region can only be achieved through dialogue and the resolution of outstanding issues.

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has also stated that Kosovo remains an important partner for the Alliance, positively assessing the improvement of the security situation in the country.
