One person has been arrested and a firearm confiscated during a police operation carried out on Thursday at three locations in the Mitrovica region as part of an investigation into the criminal offense of “migrant smuggling.”
According to law enforcement authorities, the operation was conducted by the Investigation Sector of the Border Police Department following the examination of electronic devices and analysis of materials collected in a case initiated on September 23, 2025, on the Vërmica–Pristina highway.
Based on a court order, searches were carried out at three separate locations in the Mitrovica region. During the raid, police discovered and seized a rifle along with eight rounds of ammunition at the home of an inmate.
The inmate was brought by correctional officers to be present during the search and to be interviewed. After the procedures were completed, he was returned to the Correctional Center.
As part of the same investigation, police also detained another suspect. The individual was interviewed in the presence of a defense lawyer and, following a prosecutor’s decision, was placed in detention.
The case is being investigated for three criminal offenses: “migrant smuggling,” “unauthorized possession of weapons,” and “possession of narcotic substances.”
