All of Europe is threatened by Russia, the stakes are very high. Joe Biden said this at a press conference in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron, thanking “European allies” for the work done so far and support for Ukraine.

“Putin will not stop in Ukraine. All of Europe will be threatened, we will not allow this to happen. The United States is standing firm with Ukraine. We’re not going away,” Biden told reporters during his state visit to France.

For his part, the French president thanked his American counterpart for his loyalty and respect for Europeans.

“I thank you, Mr. President, for being the president of the number one power in the world, but for doing so with the loyalty of a partner who likes and respects Europeans.”

Both leaders Biden and Macron on Friday met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris, pledging support for the Ukrainian cause.

France and the United States will also redouble their joint efforts to avoid further escalation of tensions in the Middle East, especially to reduce tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, Macron told reporters.

Macron said Paris and Washington had seen Iran’s escalation in the region and that both countries were determined to apply the necessary pressure to halt the trend.

The US president has been in France since Wednesday and took part in this week’s commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings that changed the course of World War II.

On Friday, Biden warned of the need to preserve American democracy and drew parallels between World War II and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
