LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, accompanied by deputies Vjosa Osmani and Lutfi Haziri, has arrived at the Kosovo Assembly for a meeting with LVV leader and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The meeting comes after Acting President Albulena Haxhiu held a consultative meeting today with political party leaders at the Office of the President, focusing on the election of a new president, according to EO.
The three opposition parties — PDK, LDK and the Alliance — had refused to participate in Haxhiu’s meeting.
Following the meeting, Haxhiu said that political consultations should continue and urged parties that did not attend today’s meeting not to reject further dialogue.
“I hope that meetings with political parties will continue and that they will take place very soon. According to the announcement by the leader of Vetëvendosje, there will be a meeting with LDK very soon. It is up to them to determine when that meeting will take place. I hope other political parties will also join these meetings and not reject them, because refusing dialogue does not lead to an agreement,” Haxhiu said.
The meeting between Kurti and the LDK leadership could therefore mark a new attempt to find common ground on the election of a consensus president and help break the ongoing institutional deadlock in Kosovo.
