LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku said after his meeting with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti that the Democratic League of Kosovo will play a role in institutional representation and contribute to resolving the constitutional crisis and establishing functioning state institutions.
Abdixhiku said the meeting focused on the criteria and potential profile of Kosovo’s next president.
According to him, the two sides agreed in principle on the profile the next president should have, emphasizing that they do not want a partisan president, but rather a respected figure capable of representing political unity.
“We agreed in principle on what the profile of the next president or president should look like,” Abdixhiku said.
He stressed that the future head of state should be committed to Kosovo’s pro-Western orientation and democratic values, love and defend the Republic, and exercise the constitutional role of representing political unity.
“We do not want a partisan president, but a respected figure who can exercise the highest state office with dignity,” Abdixhiku said.
He added that Kosovo has such figures, but said the issue remains sensitive and that both political parties need time for internal consultations, as well as broader consultations with society, before concrete names are proposed.
Abdixhiku emphasized that LDK is not seeking anything in return, saying its focus is institutional stability and creating the necessary political calm for Kosovo.
“Our focus is the issue of the president. LDK is not asking for anything in return — only institutional stability, so that Kosovo can have the calm and stability it needs,” he said.
