Kosovo has secured its first medal at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, thanks to boxer Donjeta Sadiku.

Competing in the women’s 60kg category, Sadiku defeated Turkey’s Esmanur Lok in a closely contested quarterfinal, winning by a 4–1 split decision and advancing to the semifinals.

The victory guarantees Sadiku at least a bronze medal, but the Kosovar boxer will now set her sights on going further in the tournament and fighting for gold.

She is scheduled to face Greece’s Sofia Legaki in the semifinal on Wednesday.

Sadiku’s achievement gives Kosovo its first medal of the Taranto Games and adds another major result to her international boxing career. Kosovo is competing in Taranto with a delegation of 163 athletes.

With the bronze already secured, the mission now becomes clear: go for the final, and fight for gold. 🥊🇽🇰
