Three years after the killing of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku, his family has opened its doors today to receive relatives, friends and citizens who have come to honor his memory.
Bunjaku was killed on September 24, 2023, while serving his country during the armed attack in Banjska, in northern Kosovo. Two other Kosovo Police officers were also injured in the attack.
Among those gathered at the family home today are Afrim Bunjaku’s two sons, who delivered a powerful message through their clothing. They wore shirts bearing the words “Freedom Has a Name” (“Liria ka Emër”), expressing solidarity with the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders who were sentenced in The Hague on September 16 to a combined 81 years in prison.
Three years later, Afrim Bunjaku remains remembered in Kosovo as a police officer who lost his life in the line of duty.
