October 6 is the final deadline for the election of Kosovo’s president. If the Assembly fails to elect a president, it will be dissolved and the country will go to new elections.
Today is, consequently, also the last opportunity for the current composition of the Assembly to vote, in a second reading, on amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
At the moment, no meetings of parliamentary committees or sessions of the Kosovo Assembly have been announced.
This comes on the day the deadline for electing a new president expires, while the review of the proposed amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers also remains unfinished.
However, an extraordinary Assembly session could be called during the day.
Meanwhile, as political parties have still failed to reach an agreement on a president, protests calling for changes to the Specialist Chambers Law — which escalated into violence on Monday — are expected to continue today as well.
