The Kosovo government has approved a program allocating around €15 million to subsidize electricity bills for vulnerable consumers during the 2026–2027 period.

The Ministry of Labor, Family and Values of the Liberation War said the Program for the Protection of Vulnerable Electricity Consumers was approved at the government’s fifth meeting.

According to the ministry, the program is designed to provide financial support to vulnerable households through electricity bill subsidies, with a particular focus on families covered by the social protection system.

The initiative aims to ensure more equal access to electricity as an essential service and provide financial assistance to households facing greater economic difficulties.

The ministry said a decision setting out the eligibility conditions and criteria is expected to be signed in the coming days. Following its approval, authorities are expected to open a public application call for eligible households.

The program is also linked to Kosovo’s commitments under the European integration process and the implementation of the Western Balkans Growth Plan.
