European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Riho Terras has welcomed Kosovo’s election of a new president, which prevented the country from heading to another round of parliamentary elections.
Following the election, Terras said Kosovo’s priorities should now be institutional stability, the rule of law and progress toward European Union integration.
“With elections avoided, the priorities are institutional stability, the rule of law and integration toward the EU,” Terras said.
He also said he was looking forward to meeting Kosovo’s newly elected president.
Kosovo’s Assembly elected Justina Shiroka-Pula as president after securing the required majority, bringing an end to a prolonged political impasse and avoiding the possibility of snap parliamentary elections.
