Gashi Meets New Turkish Ambassador: North Macedonia and Türkiye Maintain a Strong Traditional Friendship and Partnership

Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi today met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of North Macedonia, Alper Aktash.

According to Gashi’s office, he welcomed the ambassador to Parliament and wished him success in his new position.

Gashi emphasized that North Macedonia and Türkiye maintain a strong traditional friendship and partnership, with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties and dynamic cooperation at all levels. The two countries maintain intensive high-level communication, which significantly contributes to strengthening their overall bilateral relations.

Gashi also highlighted the good and friendly relations between the two countries, reflected in fruitful and successful parliamentary cooperation, from the highest level between parliamentary speakers to cooperation between committees and friendship and cooperation groups.

Türkiye is among North Macedonia’s most important trading partners and one of the countries that continues to invest in the Macedonian economy across various sectors, positioning itself as a strategic investment partner.

Ambassador Aktash emphasized that he would work to increase trade between the two countries, advance cooperation in tourism and investment, and facilitate the implementation of infrastructure projects, according to the statement.

The two interlocutors agreed that, in addition to the excellent relations between the two countries, there is always room to further develop cooperation of mutual interest. In particular, they highlighted cooperation in the fields of culture, education, agriculture, healthcare and tourism.
