Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met with European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Robert de Groot on Monday ahead of the signing of a loan agreement aimed at improving medical equipment and infrastructure in Kosovo’s public hospitals.

Kurti was accompanied by Finance Minister Hekuran Murati during the meeting, which focused on expanding cooperation and identifying opportunities for joint investment.

Kurti thanked De Groot for his visit, while the EIB vice-president congratulated Kosovo on the election of its new president, which enabled the restoration of institutional stability.

The discussions also covered Kosovo’s economic development and plans for future infrastructure investments. Kurti highlighted the country’s sustained economic growth, which De Groot reportedly welcomed, and outlined projects in several key sectors.

These included railway infrastructure, the construction of five new dams and investment in sports facilities as Kosovo prepares to host the Mediterranean Games in 2030.

The meeting also addressed the expansion of district heating networks and developments in the energy sector, including plans to increase generating capacity and diversify energy sources.

The planned loan agreement for medical equipment and infrastructure is intended to support improvements in Kosovo’s public healthcare facilities, while broader cooperation with the EIB could contribute to investment in transport, energy and other strategic sectors.
