US President Donald Trump has said that the United States continues to share intelligence with Ukraine, denying that this support has been suspended, the BBC reports.

Trump was questioned by journalists about the issue as he departed for a rally in Alaska.

“No, we haven’t stopped. We’re helping them and sharing intelligence with them,” Trump said.

He stressed that he wants to end the war in Ukraine, adding that his administration is working with both sides to achieve that goal.

“That’s why we’re working with them and with Russia to end the war,” Trump said.

On Friday, the US president announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to allow the immediate release of 300,000 tonnes of diesel fuel, which Trump said would be made available to the US and global markets.

Trump was also asked about concerns raised by some Republicans that Russia could use the proceeds from the deal to purchase weapons and continue its war against Ukraine.

“Nobody has told me anything,” he replied, describing the agreement as a measure intended to help supply the market with diesel fuel amid high global prices.

“This is a deal for diesel fuel that will be put on the world market because the world market has been facing high prices,” Trump said.
