Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has thanked the members of parliament who voted in the second reading to amend the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating Terrorism Financing.
Kurti said the law’s adoption enables Kosovo to fulfil the final condition for integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the European system that facilitates euro payments and transfers.
In a statement, Kurti said joining SEPA would significantly reduce the cost of bank transfers, saving Kosovo’s citizens, businesses and diaspora approximately €58 million annually in fees.
The move is expected to make cross-border payments cheaper and easier, bringing tangible financial benefits to households, businesses and Kosovars living abroad.
