Student protesters in Albania are refusing to back down, announcing another gathering outside Parliament on Thursday, October 22, at 9:00 AM, coinciding with the scheduled parliamentary plenary session.
After spending several hours protesting outside the Prime Minister’s Office, demonstrators marched toward Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, continuing their chants against the government. Upon arriving at the square, the young protesters called on citizens to join them at the next rally.
Wednesday marked the ninth day of the student protests. The demonstrations have already disrupted parliamentary proceedings, prompting Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi to cancel last week’s plenary session amid unrest.
With protesters returning as lawmakers prepare to convene, tensions remain high. Thursday’s gathering will test whether the student movement can sustain its mobilisation and maintain pressure on the government.
