The United States Embassy has ordered all US diplomatic personnel and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia. The information was reported by diplomatic sources to the news agency ANSA.
According to initial operational information, this drastic security decision is directly linked to the possible escalation of the military situation in the region.
Risk of Attacks and Houthi Rebel Activity
According to diplomatic reports, the emergency measure was taken in response to indications that military activity and hostilities in the area could resume. The main security concerns are linked to potential threats from Yemen-based Houthi rebels.
Regarding the reasons behind the decision, diplomatic sources explained:
“The measure would be linked to the possibility of hostilities resuming in the area, particularly in connection with potential actions by Yemen’s pro-Iranian Houthi rebels.”
The evacuation order reflects growing concerns in Washington about possible drone or missile attacks targeting Western diplomatic facilities and installations on the Arabian Peninsula.
