“Agim Ramadani was an excellent military strategist and a leader with a clear vision for a free and democratic Kosovo. He never lost faith in freedom and justice,” stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, at the Memorial Academy organized by the Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in Zurich for Commander Agim Ramadani.
She said that his battle in the Battle of Koshare will forever remain a symbol of glory and bravery in our national history.
This academy was held in the place where the hero acted for Kosovo and set out to fight to the death in the Battle of Koshare, according to the announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFAD).
Among the hundreds of immigrants from Switzerland, the academy was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Switzerland, Mentor Latifi, the Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, the Minister of Agriculture, Faton Peci, the former commander of the “138 Agim Ramadani” Brigade, Rrustem Berisha, family members and comrades of the hero, as well as representatives of various organizations and associations.
Before the attendees, Minister Gërvalla said that Agim Ramadani was not only a military man, strategist, and excellent fighter, but he also had the soul of an artist, writer, and painter who loved his culture and people with all his heart.
“When Kosovo needed him, he left behind not only Switzerland but also art and poetry, and took up arms, convinced that freedom is the highest value worth fighting for,” she said.
Minister Gërvalla further stated that in the Battle of Koshare, Agim showed unparalleled bravery and extraordinary strategy before being killed on April 11, 1999, at the front line of the liberation front, where the infamous border stone was forever removed.
“The battle of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Koshare was and remains the battle of pride and glory, a battle of heroes who realized the centuries-old dream,” said Minister Gërvalla, concluding that the deeds, determination, and bravery of Agim Ramadani and all the heroes who gave their lives for Kosovo’s freedom will always be a guide for our future.
On the other hand, the comrades of hero Agim Ramadani shared memories from their liberation struggle, describing the hero as a person with rare human values and determined to fulfill the testament of the martyrs for the liberation of Kosovo, reports MFAD.
The memorial academy was accompanied by Agim Ramadani’s poetry, read and accompanied by wonderful musical performances by the highly reputed Albanian singer in Switzerland, Elina Duni, and instrumentalist Elmir Berisha.
