The race for the White House in the U.S. 2024 enters its final day today. With less than 24 hours until polling stations open, surveys confirm that the gap in projected votes between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is very narrow.
According to a projection from ABC News and Ipsos, the Democratic vice president leads nationally by three percentage points over her Republican challenger. The latest poll, conducted from October 29 to November 1, shows that Harris’s support among likely voters stands at 49% compared to 46% for Trump.
These results are consistent with those from previous weeks. Last week, a similar poll gave Harris a four-point advantage (51% to 47%), while two weeks ago the Democratic candidate trailed by two points. Trump and Harris are now focusing their efforts on key battleground states critical for the presidency. Trump predicted a historic victory in Georgia.
“We must defeat Kamala Harris and stop her radical left agenda with a decisive win, one that is too big to be manipulated,” he stated.
Harris, speaking in Detroit, emphasized that the fate of the country for future generations must be determined.
“We must take action. It’s not enough to just pray or talk; we need to act according to the plans that God has laid out for us and turn them into reality through our actions and our daily choices in our communities and our democracy.”
The vice president enjoys strong support among female voters, while the Republican candidate has gained ground among Hispanic voters, particularly men. Meanwhile, early voting has seen record participation, with over 76 million American voters already casting their ballots, nearing half of the 160 million total votes cast in 2020. That year saw the highest participation rate in over a century.
