The CEO of the American insurance company UnitedHealthcare was shot dead in New York.
Brian Thompson was shot to death on Wednesday outside the Hilton hotel in Manhattan, where he was scheduled to speak at an investor conference.
The 50-year-old was rushed to the hospital but later died.
The suspect fled the scene.
Thompson appears to have been the target of the attack, as the suspect was reportedly waiting for him outside the hotel wearing a mask, police said.
UnitedHealthcare is the largest private health insurance company in the US.
