Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has offered to play a role in building a bridge alongside Keir Starmer to improve tensions between the United States and Ukraine.
Arriving at Downing Street ahead of a UK-led European peace summit in London, the Italian Prime Minister warned that any division in the West “will make us all weaker.”
Meloni, who enjoys a close relationship with Donald Trump, added: “I think it’s very important to avoid the risk of division in the West. And I believe that the UK and Italy can play an important role in building bridges.”
She thanked Keir for bringing together a number of European leaders for crisis talks on Ukraine, stating that the UK and Italy are “highly coordinated in the goal we want to achieve, which is a fair and sustainable peace in Ukraine.”
