A spokesperson for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that the United Kingdom and other EU nations are considering a range of options to bring an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed yesterday that his proposal involved a one-month ceasefire covering air and sea strikes and a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure during this period.
The spokesperson for Starmer stated, “It is clear that there are several options on the table,” when asked about the proposal. “I will not comment extensively on the options,” he added in a statement to British media.
Macron explained to Le Figaro that France and the UK were likely to agree on a one-month ceasefire to include air and naval assaults and attacks on energy infrastructure.
“The advantage of such a ceasefire is that we can measure it, as the frontline is vast, stretching across an area roughly equivalent to the distance from Paris to Budapest. Therefore, halting hostilities initially would not involve land battles. It will be very difficult to verify whether a ceasefire on the front is being respected,” said the French president.
