Donald Trump’s envoy for Russia and Ukraine is urging Zelensky to sign the mineral agreement in order for him to move forward with the U.S. administration.
When asked how the U.S. aid ban to Ukraine could be lifted, Keith Kellogg encouraged Zelensky to sign the mineral agreement.
Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations on Thursday, he said, “Once you’ve signed the document you want to move forward with and show that you’re serious about it, then you can move forward.”
Kellogg stated that the agreement would lay a “foundation on which the United States could get a direct return on their investment in Ukraine,” adding that it would serve as a “de facto security guarantee.”
He also said that “all options are on the table” for ending the war and added that the Trump administration is trying to bring both sides to the table using “points of pressure and incentives.”
