The candidate for Prime Minister from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, commented on the way former President Hashim Thaçi was allowed to visit his sick father at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) – under strict security measures – after multiple requests.

Hamza called the delay in allowing the visit and the treatment of the former state leader unfair.

“With Mr. Thaçi, with President Thaçi, aside from professional relations, I also have personal and family connections. Of course, these are mixed in nature, as the positive side of this visit is that after many requests, he was granted the right to visit his sick father at QKUK. I have also visited Uncle Haxhi, who is a good friend of mine. And this is the beautiful part. On the other hand, the other side represents something totally unnecessary. It’s those scenes. It’s all these delays in granting a basic human right to visit his parent, who is not in good health. I am convinced that beyond political differences, this scene, this totally unnecessary and unjust manner, is not what is needed in this case, and neither the president nor Kosovo deserves it,” Hamza said in Debat Plus.

Thaçi came to Kosovo today for the third time since his arrest by the Special Court in The Hague in November 2020. The visit was permitted for humanitarian reasons, as his father is ill.
