Passengers aboard an American Airlines flight were evacuated on the runway of an airport in Colorado after a fire broke out on the plane.
American Airlines confirmed that the flight had 172 passengers and 6 crew members, all of whom were safely evacuated.
Evacuation footage showed passengers gathered on the wing of the Boeing aircraft, some holding bags, as flames engulfed the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States stated that passengers used inflatable slides to safely descend to the ground at Denver International Airport.
There were no serious injuries, but the airport confirmed that 12 people were sent to the hospital for minor injuries.
The flight had departed from Colorado Springs and was en route to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, according to an FAA statement to the BBC.
The plane diverted to Denver around 5:15 p.m. after the crew reported a “turbine shake,” the FAA said.
After landing, the aircraft caught fire while traveling down the airport’s runway.
