Donald Trump Jr., the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, released an interview with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić this morning, which he conducted during a recent visit to Belgrade. In the interview, Vučić discussed Serbia’s position in Europe, NATO bombings in 1999, ongoing protests in the country, and Kosovo.
At the beginning of the interview, Trump Jr. praised the Serbian president, calling him a “great guy.”
In the first episode of his “Triggered” podcast, released on the Rumble platform, Donald Trump Jr. described his visit to Serbia as an “eye-opening experience.” He portrayed Serbia as a country that has embraced free-market principles, supported Donald Trump’s election in the U.S., backed the “Make America Great Again” movement, and adopted shared values of law, order, and national identity, reports Danas.
When discussing the protests, Trump stated, “It seems to me that the tragedy in Novi Sad was misused like the U.S. Capitol attack on January 6, 2021,” adding that it was presented as something it was not, with the potential aim of sparking a revolution.
Vučić commented that the Novi Sad accident was exploited in an unbelievable way. He said that what is happening in Serbia is similar to what happens in the U.S., with all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) being against him, just like they are against Donald Trump in the U.S. He added that NGOs in Serbia have always sided with anarcho-liberal ideologies during all political crises.
Talking about the 1999 NATO bombings, Vučić said he always reminds Europeans of why they violated international law that year when they didn’t care about territorial integrity, as it wasn’t in their interests.
Regarding relations with Kosovo, Vučić mentioned that he wouldn’t use this opportunity to speak negatively, adding that Serbia had been under significant pressure.
“We have always been open to reaching a consensus or an agreement with Pristina, but it has to be a compromise solution,” Vučić stated.
