Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MPJD) has announced that it denied the Serbian Minister of Health permission to visit Kosovo. The decision was made on the basis of reciprocity, after Serbia refused entry to Kosovo’s Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, for a planned visit to Preševo.
Kosovo Enforces Diplomatic Reciprocity
According to the MPJD statement issued yesterday, Kosovo remains committed to equal treatment in diplomatic relations and upholding its constitutional order.
“Kosovo’s approach remains based on reciprocity and respect for its constitutional order. After Serbia refused to allow Minister Hajrulla Çeku to visit Preševo, Kosovo has denied the request of the Serbian Minister of Health to visit. Fair and equal treatment is essential,” the statement read.
Serbia Blocks Kosovo’s Culture Minister from Visiting Preševo
Just a day earlier, Preševo Mayor Ardita Sinani revealed that Serbian authorities had blocked Minister Çeku’s entry into Preševo.
“This is the second time that Vučić’s regime has prevented Minister Çeku from visiting Preševo,” Sinani stated, adding that Serbia continues to act as an authoritarian regime while still being tolerated by the West.
The latest diplomatic standoff highlights the tense relations between Kosovo and Serbia, where reciprocity in political and diplomatic actions has become a defining feature of their interactions.
