Former UK Minister for Europe, Denis MacShane, has praised Kenyan President William Ruto’s decision to recognize Kosovo’s independence, calling it a wise move that aligns Kenya with the world’s leading democratic economies.

In a post on X, MacShane also criticized Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, referring to him as “Putin’s puppet.”

He emphasized that Serbian rule over Kosovo will never return, drawing a parallel between Kenya and Kosovo’s histories of colonialism.

“A wise move by Kenyan President William Ruto to recognize Kosovo, in line with all major democratic economies. Putin’s puppet, Serbian leader Vučić, complains, but Kenya—like Kosovo—knows what it means to be a colony, and Serbian rule over Kosovo will not return,” MacShane wrote.
