German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, during a surprise visit to Kyiv, has warned against Russia’s obstructive tactics in peace negotiations with Ukraine.
She stated that she believes Ukraine is ready to sign a peace agreement and emphasized that the United States should avoid any efforts by Russia to sabotage these negotiations.
Baerbock highlighted that at the upcoming NATO foreign ministers’ meeting, it will be made clear that Ukraine must not fall victim to the blocking strategies of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Baerbock’s statements come following remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened Russia with new tariffs if it blocks his efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
Trump also warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, telling him that if he does not sign an agreement on critical minerals, he will face “big problems.”
However, after some reviews, Ukraine is still discussing the terms of the agreement with the United States regarding the country’s mineral resources.
Beyond these diplomatic developments, Russia continues to intensify its attacks on the city of Kharkiv, launching grenades and causing material damage.
