Liberal candidate Susan Crawford has won the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, maintaining the 4-3 liberal majority in the state’s highest court. The race was widely seen as a referendum on Donald Trump’s presidency and became the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history, with over $90 million spent by candidates and interest groups.

A Defeat for Trump and Musk: Crawford defeated Brad Schimel, a conservative former attorney general backed by Trump and Elon Musk, despite Musk-affiliated political groups spending $21 million to support Schimel.

Crawford’s Victory Speech:

“I never imagined as a little girl in Chippewa Falls that I’d be fighting the world’s richest man for justice in Wisconsin. And we won!” – Crawford told supporters in Madison.

Democrats See Momentum: Calling the win a rebuke of billionaires’ influence, Democratic leaders claim it marks the first step toward reclaiming the House in 2026.

Republicans Hold Florida Seats: Meanwhile, two Republican victories in Florida special elections have bolstered the GOP’s House majority (220-213), despite closer-than-expected margins.

With Trump staying silent on Wisconsin’s results, Crawford’s victory signals a growing political battle ahead of the 2026 midterms.
